These past few months, we have had the privilege of being mentors at IDarte, the Basque Country's Public Higher School of Design, accompanying 3rd-year Graphic Design students in something much bigger than an academic project: creating solutions that truly matter.

The challenge that thrilled us from day one

We proposed that they design a technological solution to improve women's health. No restrictions. No closed briefings. Mobile, web, watch, sound, gadget... whatever they deemed necessary to generate a real impact.

And they surprised us. Extraordinary approaches emerged: apps for trans people who want to track their hormonal and menstrual health with complete autonomy, applications that accompany women experiencing menstrual pain through guided meditation exercises, and even an immersive room where your gynecologist helps you understand your process of amenorrhea.

The Aura pedagogical challenge is not just academic design. It is pure social transformation. For an entire semester, these future designers have researched, prototyped, and created real, user-centered solutions designed to have a positive impact on people's lives.

Their work connects three unstoppable forces: design with a purpose, humanized technology, and genuine social commitment. It aligns perfectly with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), but it goes beyond meeting goals: it creates the future.

As mentors from Chubby Apps, we contributed our experience in developing apps recognized by Apple and our work with giants like Pfizer. But the truth is, we received as much as we gave. These students have reminded us of something fundamental: the most powerful design emerges when technique meets the passion for improving real lives.

Working with the Challenge-Based Learning methodology has allowed us to see how the next generation of designers is not satisfied with just creating beautiful interfaces. They want to transform the world through knowledge.

Projects like this confirm something we have always believed at Chubby Apps: true innovation is born when technical excellence is put at the service of real human needs. These young designers have not only learned to create digital solutions. They have learned that design is a responsibility, that technology is a tool for social transformation, and that their work can leave a mark on the world.

Learning design at IDarte means transforming the world through knowledge: innovation that cares and leaves a mark. And we have had the honor of accompanying them on that journey.

Can you imagine what kind of world these designers will create when they combine their social vision with the technical excellence that characterizes the new digital generation?

Before you ask

Are these apps yours or your clients'?

Both. Cori and FitWoody are ours, which is why we know what it takes to sustain a product for years and not just launch it. The rest are commissions, with their own client and brand.

Almost everything shown here is about health. What if mine isn't?

Healthcare is where we have published the most, but not the only thing we do. There are also hospitality, sports, and city projects. The sector changes, not the way of working.

What part do you do?

Brand, product and development. We design the identity, the app and the website, and then we program them. iOS, Android and web.

What happens when the app is already live?

Now comes the interesting part. FitWoody has been in the App Store since 2023, and in 2025 we completely rebuilt it. Launching is just the beginning, not the final delivery.

Seeing this, it looks like a large studio. How many of you are there?

Two. That's why you always talk to the person doing the work, and that's why we say no often.

Where do you start?

By telling us what you want to do. From there we work out whether it makes sense, how big it is and where it's best to start.

Are we a fit?

If you've made it this far, something must have resonated with you. Tell us what you want to build, and we'll tell you frankly if we are the right studio for you.
