Yesterday we participated in the Service Design Talks: Health & Care, an event organized by the University of Navarra together with EIDE EUSKAL DISEINUA, where we talked about design, health, and how we can improve people's lives through well-thought-out products.

From Chubby Apps, Patricia Bedoya and Asier G. Morato attended to share our experience creating impactful applications. We shared the stage with brilliant professionals like Marta Bariáin and Paula Tomás, in a conversation that revolved around something we are deeply passionate about: how design can (and must) be a transformative tool.

The event was held at the School of Architecture, a 1980s building that still breathes innovation today. With its open workshops and a structure that invites collaboration, it reminded us why spaces also educate. It was the perfect setting to talk about human-centered design.

We want to make a special mention to Aitor Acilu, Service Design professor, for inviting us and for training new generations of designers with a clear vision: design begins, and ends, with people. Thank you for always putting the focus where it really matters.

During our speech, we shared some of the lessons we have learned from building apps over the years. Here they are, in case you are also on that journey (or about to start it):

Create your own Concept Car · Show what you can do, even before anyone asks you to. Sometimes, the opportunity appears when you dare to imagine it.

Start with people, not with the screen · Listen. Observe. Context is king. And if you understand it well, the solutions come on their own.

Every product has to tell a story · If it doesn't move you, if it doesn't connect, if it doesn't solve... then it doesn't matter how many features it has.

Don't build castles in the air · Working with Agile methodology is not about putting it in your LinkedIn bio. It's about keeping your feet on the ground and adapting, always.

Find the core of the product and build from there · You don't need to be everywhere. Sometimes, less is more. Much more.

Designing health and care products and services is a complex challenge, but also a beautiful opportunity. It requires empathy, active listening, and a deep respect for the people it is aimed at.

We return from Pamplona with our heads full of ideas and our batteries charged. Because yes, technology can be much more than functional: it can be human. And that is what we are working on. · The Chubby Apps team

Everything we have left behind along the way

Back to the journey

Before you ask

Are these apps yours or your clients'?

Both. Cori and FitWoody are ours, which is why we know what it takes to sustain a product for years and not just launch it. The rest are commissions, with their own client and brand.

Almost everything shown here is about health. What if mine isn't?

Healthcare is where we have published the most, but not the only thing we do. There are also hospitality, sports, and city projects. The sector changes, not the way of working.

What part do you do?

Brand, product and development. We design the identity, the app and the website, and then we program them. iOS, Android and web.

What happens when the app is already live?

Now comes the interesting part. FitWoody has been in the App Store since 2023, and in 2025 we completely rebuilt it. Launching is just the beginning, not the final delivery.

Seeing this, it looks like a large studio. How many of you are there?

Two. That's why you always talk to the person doing the work, and that's why we say no often.

Where do you start?

By telling us what you want to do. From there we work out whether it makes sense, how big it is and where it's best to start.

Are we a fit?

If you've made it this far, something must have resonated with you. Tell us what you want to build, and we'll tell you frankly if we are the right studio for you.
