Last Wednesday, Patricia Bedoya, co-founder of Chubby Apps, participated in a new Ekin Breakfast organized by Álava Emprende, a space for meeting and reflection on the role of design in entrepreneurship and its impact on strategic decision-making.

The event had a special meaning as it was held at IDarte, the school where Patricia trained in interior design and which now welcomed her back as a UI-UX designer, demonstrating how design, in any of its branches, is a discipline focused on problem-solving.

In this edition, she shared a panel with EIDE Euskal Diseinua and DIGA Elkartea/Asociación, who presented the associative ecosystem of design in the Basque Country, as well as with Anuska Arbildi Larreina and Jorge Morer, director of Labox Marketing y Comunicación, who provided an enriching vision of the sector and entrepreneurship.

During the talk, Patricia shared Chubby Apps' trajectory over these nearly six years, highlighting the impact of design on every business decision and the importance of the Alavese entrepreneurial ecosystem, which supports startups and professionals through various organizations.

In addition, the role of artificial intelligence in the sector was addressed, highlighting it as a key ally in process optimization, allowing designers and entrepreneurs to delegate repetitive tasks and focus on what truly adds value.

From Chubby Apps, we thank Álava Emprende for the invitation and all participants for sharing their experiences and knowledge. We remain committed to innovation, design, and technology as fundamental pillars of entrepreneurship.

Everything we have left behind along the way

Before you ask

Are these apps yours or your clients'?

Both. Cori and FitWoody are ours, which is why we know what it takes to sustain a product for years and not just launch it. The rest are commissions, with their own client and brand.

Almost everything shown here is about health. What if mine isn't?

Healthcare is where we have published the most, but not the only thing we do. There are also hospitality, sports, and city projects. The sector changes, not the way of working.

What part do you do?

Brand, product and development. We design the identity, the app and the website, and then we program them. iOS, Android and web.

What happens when the app is already live?

Now comes the interesting part. FitWoody has been in the App Store since 2023, and in 2025 we completely rebuilt it. Launching is just the beginning, not the final delivery.

Seeing this, it looks like a large studio. How many of you are there?

Two. That's why you always talk to the person doing the work, and that's why we say no often.

Where do you start?

By telling us what you want to do. From there we work out whether it makes sense, how big it is and where it's best to start.

Are we a fit?

If you've made it this far, something must have resonated with you. Tell us what you want to build, and we'll tell you frankly if we are the right studio for you.
