Looking back at everything that has happened to us since we launched Chubby Apps 365 days ago, I am sure that one year as an entrepreneur is equivalent to at least a dog year.

In the middle of the pandemic, when the world came to a sudden halt and people started baking bread, we decided to launch into making apps. But not just any way. They had to be so simple that they didn't need an instruction manual. As beautiful as they were accessible. That respected your privacy. And, above all, that improved people's lives.

It took us a bit of time to ground it and just as much to muster up the courage to jump into the pool of creating a software development company, but one year later we couldn't be prouder of the journey we have begun.

Although it wasn't our first idea (SafeTimer and UBIQ are still out there), Cori has been our darling ever since we drew the first wireframes. An app with which we not only wanted to help people with diabetes regain control of their disease, but also to prove that our values were not just empty words. And boy, were we right.

Since we launched the app on November 9, we have received the award for the best idea from Álava Emprende, the INIZIA Uniemprendedor award from the UPV/EHU; and we won the III edition of Innomakers4Health organized by Pfizer.

An award that we were very excited about, since it opened the doors of the InnomakersLAB to us. An innovation laboratory focused on the health sector where we are having the opportunity to learn and collaborate with experts in Innovation, Business, Technology, Marketing, and Product from The Cube, as well as Health experts from Pfizer's Angels for Innovation Program.

Although the greatest prize of all has been the community that has grown around Cori. From the first beta, they have helped us improve the app step by step, making it adapt to all people and their diabetes. We can't tell you much yet, but I assure you that you are going to love every single one of the updates we have planned for this year.

It doesn't say so anywhere on our website yet (you know how it goes, the shoemaker's children...), but this year we have also helped all kinds of startups and companies with the development of their applications. From conceptualization and design to development and testing.

Projects that we personally believe in and that align with our values. Sport, well-being, accessibility, environment... technology that helps make the world a better place. We cannot be more grateful to each and every one of the people who have trusted Chubby Apps with your projects.

If you think we can help you, don't hesitate to write to us at hola@chubbyapps.com.

How do you design an app to make it chubby?

Finally, the million-dollar question: How do you design an app to make it chubby? We are not going to completely reveal our Coca-Cola formula, but a few weeks ago ID·Arte invited us to give a talk on app design.

We have only taken one trip around the sun, but seeing how fun the ride on the (emotional) roller coaster of entrepreneurship has been, we can't wait to get on it again.

Until next time!

Patricia, Asier and Perretxiko.

Before you ask

Are these apps yours or your clients'?

Both. Cori and FitWoody are ours, which is why we know what it takes to sustain a product for years and not just launch it. The rest are commissions, with their own client and brand.

Almost everything shown here is about health. What if mine isn't?

Healthcare is where we have published the most, but not the only thing we do. There are also hospitality, sports, and city projects. The sector changes, not the way of working.

What part do you do?

Brand, product and development. We design the identity, the app and the website, and then we program them. iOS, Android and web.

What happens when the app is already live?

Now comes the interesting part. FitWoody has been in the App Store since 2023, and in 2025 we completely rebuilt it. Launching is just the beginning, not the final delivery.

Seeing this, it looks like a large studio. How many of you are there?

Two. That's why you always talk to the person doing the work, and that's why we say no often.

Where do you start?

By telling us what you want to do. From there we work out whether it makes sense, how big it is and where it's best to start.

Are we a fit?

If you've made it this far, something must have resonated with you. Tell us what you want to build, and we'll tell you frankly if we are the right studio for you.
